Bathing suit time of year is coming quickly and this has people taking on different eating habits (shunning those of the winter season) and promising themselves that they will get in shape before the weather prevents them from hiding their bodies under heavy layers of clothing. So many individuals throw themselves straight into training constantly because they are desperate to lose weight and get into shape before anybody gets to see their body. Unfortunately, trying to get into shape too quickly can often be bad for your health. Doctors everywhere we look assume that it doesn't do you any good to simply jump into a regular exercise regimen. So what should you do to get healthy in advance of bathing suit season getting here?


It is important that you simply see your doctor before you do anything. Ask for a total bodily check up. This will let you find where you are starting out in your efforts to drop weight and get in shape. Your doctor can help you determine a good goal weight and body mass index as well as tell you whether or not you have any health conditions that you need to keep in mind as you work to get in shape. Your physician will help you assemble some dietary guidelines so that you can also work to get your diet under control.

Start out slow. Don't attempt to run five miles instantly. A good system for starting to get into shape is the Couch to 5K plan. This is a plan that little by little steps up your running schedule until you are ready to take on a 5K marathon. Obviously, however, you need to do a lot more than just jogging to get in shape. You must also start doing some weight training and cardiovascular workouts as well. If you don't have time for all of these, try to look for a swimming variation of Couch to 5K-this way you'll work your whole body and build all of your systems safely and over time.



Find a support group. If you can find men and women to do the work with you you will have a much greater chance of losing weight and getting in shape when you have a support group even if you find your weight gain embarrassing. You can work together to eat right and exercise-these are generally folks who can go to weight watchers meetings with you, take exercise classes with you, etc. For people who are not comfortable doing this with people they know "in real life" they can find emotional support online. There are many internet organizations for people who are attempting to lose weight that you can join.

The basic truth is that it is about to take time to shed weight and get into shape. You'll be a lot better off if you can get started changing your eating and exercise habits sooner as opposed to later. The sooner you start to make your improvements, the easier it is likely to be to slowly and steadily get into shape. Don't forget this is a circumstance when you have to work slowly and steadily--your body will thank you for taking enough time to do things correctly.
