If possible, try to keep your legs raised above your hear in order to increase the flow of blood. In general, make changes to your lifestyle, such as eating healthy. If you are overweight, losing weight can also help your health.

Avoid tight clothes which can have adverse effect on varicose veins. Select more loose fitted attire that lets the body breathe and wouldn't be tight around your thighs, legs or waist. Women should avoid high heeled shoes. Low heeled shoes are a good option because they will assist to tone calf muscles which is good for your body.

Another option for clothes is compression stockings which will give your legs gentle pressure. Support pantyhose offer little pressure while over-the-counter compression and prescription strength compression hose have more pressure. You need to be specially fitted for these types of pantyhose.
